Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety during the repair.
  • Allow the vehicle to cool down if the fuel system has been under pressure.
2. Access the Fuel Sender Unit
  • Remove the rear seat or access panel to reach the fuel pump module.
  • Disconnect any electrical connectors and fuel lines from the fuel pump module.
  • Unscrew the retaining ring and carefully lift the module out of the tank.
3. Inspect and Replace the Fuel Sender
  • Visually inspect the fuel sender for damage, corrosion, or sticking float.
  • If damaged, replace the fuel sender with a new unit.
    • Tools Required: Socket set, flathead screwdriver, fuel line disconnect tool.
4. Reassemble the Fuel Pump Module
  • Carefully place the new or inspected fuel sender back into the tank.
  • Secure it with the retaining ring and reconnect fuel lines and electrical connectors.
  • Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent leaks.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the vehicle and check the fuel gauge operation.
  • Monitor for any error codes using the OBD-II scanner.
