💡 Expert Tip

For complex repairs like this, consider taking photos at each step. This helps if you need to reverse a step or consult with a mechanic. Also, keep all removed parts organized - you may need to reference them during reassembly.

Verification

After completing the repair, verify that the issue has been resolved:

  • ✓Test the affected component to ensure it functions correctly
  • ✓Check for any error codes or warning lights
  • ✓Monitor the vehicle for a few days to ensure the issue does not recur

Prevention Tips

To prevent this issue from occurring again:

  • •Follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule
  • •Address warning signs early before they develop into major issues
  • •Use quality parts and fluids recommended for your vehicle
  • •Keep detailed records of all repairs and maintenance

Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Safety warning: Wear gloves and safety glasses during the repair process.
2. Replace Faulty TPMS Sensors
  1. Remove Wheel:

    • Loosen lug nuts and lift the vehicle with a jack.
    • Remove the wheel and set aside.
  2. Remove Old Sensor:

    • Locate the TPMS sensor on the inside of the tire.
    • Use a valve core tool to deflate the tire if necessary.
    • Unscrew the retaining nut and remove the sensor from the valve stem.
  3. Install New Sensor:

    • Apply a small amount of rubber lubricant to the new sensor's O-ring.
    • Position the new sensor on the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut.
    • Ensure it is tightened to the manufacturer's specification (usually around 4-5 Nm).
  4. Reinstall Wheel:

    • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
    • Lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically 100-120 Nm).
3. Reset TPMS
  1. Power On: Turn the ignition to the "On" position without starting the engine.
  2. Access TPMS Menu: Navigate through the iDrive system to find the TPMS reset option.
  3. Reset System: Follow the prompts to complete the TPMS reset process.
