Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
2. Recharge Refrigerant
  • Tools Required: Manifold gauge set, refrigerant can, safety goggles.
  • Connect the low-pressure side of the manifold gauge to the AC service port.
  • Start the engine and turn the AC to the maximum setting.
  • Check the pressure readings on the manifold gauge. If low, add refrigerant according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Monitor the system while adding refrigerant until optimal pressure is reached.
3. Replace AC Compressor (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrenches, AC compressor removal tool, torque wrench.
  • Disconnect the battery.
  • Remove the drive belt by releasing tension on the tensioner.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors and refrigerant lines from the AC compressor.
  • Unbolt the AC compressor from its mounting bracket and remove it from the engine bay.
  • Install the new AC compressor and torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reconnect refrigerant lines and electrical connectors.
4. Replace Cabin Air Filter (if required)
  • Tools Required: None, but a flathead screwdriver may assist.
  • Locate the cabin air filter access panel, usually under the dashboard or behind the glove box.
  • Remove the panel and take out the old filter.
  • Install the new cabin air filter in the correct orientation and secure the access panel.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the vehicle and run the AC system to check for proper cooling and function.
  • Monitor for any unusual noises or issues.
