Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery if any electrical components will be removed.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels using a socket set.
3. Remove the Old Ball Joints
  • Tools Required: Ball joint separator, socket set, torque wrench
  • Remove any components obstructing access to the ball joints (e.g., brake caliper, rotor).
  • Use a ball joint separator to disconnect the ball joint from the control arm.
  • Remove the retaining bolts/nuts and pull the ball joint out of the steering knuckle.
4. Install New Ball Joints
  • Clean the mounting area on the control arm and steering knuckle.
  • Insert the new ball joint into the control arm and secure it with the retaining bolts/nuts.
  • Torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications (refer to service manual for exact values).
5. Reassemble Components
  • Reinstall the brake rotor and caliper.
  • Reattach the wheels and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Reconnect the battery if it was disconnected.
