Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Funnel
    • Oil catch pan
    • Torque wrench
  • Parts Required:
    • Engine oil (5W-30 or 0W-20, as specified in the owner's manual)
    • New oil filter (specific to the F-150 model)
  • Warm up the engine for about 5 minutes to thin the oil, which helps it drain more easily.
2. Drain Old Oil
  • Position the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Place an oil catch pan under the oil pan.
  • Using the socket set, carefully remove the drain plug from the oil pan.
  • Allow the old oil to drain completely into the catch pan.
  • Once drained, clean the drain plug and inspect for any wear or damage.
3. Replace the Drain Plug
  • Reinstall the drain plug and use the torque wrench to tighten it to 20 lb-ft (27 Nm) as specified in the owner's manual.
4. Replace Oil Filter
  • Locate the oil filter; use the oil filter wrench to remove the old filter.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, ensuring it is snug but not overtightened.
5. Add New Oil
  • Open the hood and locate the oil filler cap.
  • Remove the cap and place a funnel in the opening.
  • Pour in the appropriate amount of new engine oil (typically between 6-8 quarts for the F-150, check the owner's manual for specifics).
  • Replace the oil filler cap.
6. Check Oil Level
  • Start the engine and let it run for a minute, then turn it off.
  • Wait a minute and use the dipstick to check the oil level.
  • Add more oil if necessary and ensure it is at the correct level.
