Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Lift the front or rear of the vehicle using a jack, and secure with jack stands.
2. Inspect Suspension Components
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench.
  • Remove the wheels to gain access to the suspension components.
  • Visually inspect the shocks, struts, sway bar links, and bushings for any signs of damage or wear.
  • Safety Warning: Ensure the vehicle is securely supported on jack stands before working underneath.
3. Replace Worn Components
  • If any components are found to be worn or damaged, proceed with replacement:
    • Shock Absorbers/Struts:
      1. Remove the retaining bolts from the top and bottom of the shock or strut.
      2. Install the new shock or strut, tightening bolts to manufacturer specifications.
    • Sway Bar Links:
      1. Remove the old sway bar link from the sway bar and the control arm.
      2. Install the new sway bar link and tighten to specifications.
    • Bushings:
      1. Remove the control arm if necessary.
      2. Press out the old bushings and press in the new ones using a bushing tool.
      3. Reinstall the control arm and tighten bolts to specifications.
4. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Replace the wheels and tighten lug nuts to the specified torque.
  • Lower the vehicle and remove the jack stands.
