Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, ratchet, extension bar, anti-seize lubricant, dielectric grease.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate any retaining bolts or clips securing the engine cover.
    2. Use the appropriate socket to remove bolts, if present.
    3. Gently lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector from each ignition coil by pressing the tab and pulling.
    2. Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using the socket set.
    3. Carefully pull the ignition coils out of the spark plug wells.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Use a spark plug socket to loosen and remove each spark plug by turning it counterclockwise.
    2. Inspect each removed spark plug for wear or damage.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Apply a small amount of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
    2. Hand-tighten the new spark plugs into their respective holes.
    3. Use a torque wrench to tighten each spark plug to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 13-15 lb-ft).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place the ignition coils back into their respective positions.
    2. Secure them with the previously removed bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place the engine cover back onto the engine bay.
    2. Secure it with the bolts or clips removed earlier.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
