Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Replace Ignition Coil
  1. Locate the ignition coil for cylinder 2 (usually at the top of the engine).
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil.
  3. Remove the bolt securing the ignition coil using a socket set.
  4. Pull the ignition coil straight out of the spark plug well.
  5. Install the new ignition coil in reverse order; torque the bolt to the manufacturer's specification (usually around 10-15 lb-ft).
3. Replace Spark Plug
  1. Remove the ignition coil again if it was replaced to access the spark plug.
  2. Use a spark plug socket to remove the old spark plug from cylinder 2.
  3. Check the gap on the new spark plug using a gap tool, adjusting as necessary to meet manufacturer specifications (typically around 0.028-0.060 inches).
  4. Install the new spark plug and torque it to the specified value (usually 12-15 lb-ft).
  5. Reinstall the ignition coil.
4. Test Fuel Injector
  1. Connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail (if applicable).
  2. Start the engine and check for fuel pressure at the injector. Compare to specifications.
  3. If pressure is low, replace the fuel injector.
  4. Disconnect the fuel injector connector, remove the retaining clip, and pull the injector out. Install the new injector and reconnect.
5. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure all connections are tight.
