Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather the necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool down if it has been running.
2. Inspect and Replace Spark Plug
  1. Remove the ignition coil from cylinder 1:
    • Use a socket set to remove the spark plug bolt.
    • Carefully pull the coil out, avoiding damage to the connector.
  2. Inspect the spark plug:
    • Check for signs of wear, carbon buildup, or damage.
    • Use a spark plug socket to remove the spark plug from the cylinder.
  3. Replace the spark plug if necessary:
    • Ensure the new spark plug is gapped correctly as per manufacturer specifications.
    • Install the new spark plug by hand and then torque it to 13 lb-ft (18 Nm).
  4. Reinstall the ignition coil:
    • Apply dielectric grease to the coil boot for easier removal later.
    • Reattach the coil and torque the bolt to the specified value.
3. Inspect and Replace Ignition Coil
  1. If the ignition coil was found defective during the inspection, remove it completely as described in step 2.
  2. Install the new ignition coil:
    • Position it correctly over the spark plug and press down until it clicks into place.
    • Reattach the electrical connector securely.
4. Test Fuel Injector
  1. If the fuel injector is suspected to be faulty:
    • Disconnect the fuel injector connector.
    • Use a Noid light to check for power supply while cranking the engine.
    • If no power is detected, trace wiring back to the ECM.
  2. If the fuel injector is defective, replace it:
    • Remove the fuel rail if necessary to access the injector.
    • Replace with a new injector and ensure proper seating.
