Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and set the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen lug nuts with a socket wrench.
  • Elevate the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors
  • Inspect Rotors:
    • Use a dial indicator to measure rotor runout; replace if warped beyond specifications (usually 0.002 inches).
  • Replace Rotors (if needed):
    • Remove caliper bolts using a socket wrench.
    • Slide off the caliper and secure it with a bungee cord (do not hang by the brake line).
    • Remove the old rotor by unscrewing the retaining screws (if applicable) and sliding it off the hub.
    • Install the new rotor and secure it with retaining screws.
4. Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove Old Pads:
    • Remove the caliper bracket bolts and slide the caliper off.
    • Take out the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Install New Pads:
    • Apply anti-squeal lubricant to the back of new pads.
    • Insert the new pads into the caliper bracket.
    • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and tighten the caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications (usually 20-25 ft-lbs).
5. Reassemble Wheel and Test
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to manufacturer specifications (typically 100-150 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Test drive the vehicle to ensure the shaking issue is resolved.
