Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Multimeter
    • Wrench set
    • Battery terminal cleaner
    • Safety gloves and goggles
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the ignition is turned off.
2. Inspect and Clean Battery Terminals
  • Disconnect the negative terminal first, followed by the positive terminal.
    • Sub-step: Use a wrench to loosen the terminal clamps.
  • Clean the terminals with a battery terminal cleaner or a mixture of baking soda and water to remove corrosion.
  • Reconnect the terminals securely, connecting the positive terminal first and then the negative.
3. Jump Start the Vehicle (if needed)
  • Position a working vehicle close to the Mustang without letting them touch.
  • Connect the red jumper cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery and the other end to the positive terminal of the working battery.
  • Connect one end of the black cable to the negative terminal of the working battery and the other end to an unpainted metal surface on the Mustang (ground).
  • Start the working vehicle and then attempt to start the Mustang.
4. Replace the Battery (if necessary)
  • If the battery does not hold a charge, remove it from the vehicle.
    • Sub-step: Disconnect the terminals in reverse order (negative first, then positive).
  • Replace with a new battery of the same specifications (typically Group size 58 for Mustang).
  • Install the new battery by connecting the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal.
