Solution

1. Preparation

• Gather all necessary tools and parts.
• Ensure the engine is cool and the vehicle is on a flat surface.
• Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

2. Remove the Old Oil Filter

• Place an oil catch pan under the oil filter to catch any residual oil.
• Use an oil filter wrench to unscrew the old oil filter counterclockwise.
• Remove the filter and allow any remaining oil to drain into the catch pan.

3. Inspect and Prepare the New Oil Filter

• Check the new oil filter for any defects before installation.
• Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter to ensure a proper seal.
• Verify that the old gasket has been removed and is not stuck to the engine.

4. Install the New Oil Filter

• Screw the new oil filter onto the engine by hand, turning it clockwise until it is snug.
• Use the oil filter wrench to tighten the filter an additional 3/4 turn, but do not overtighten.

5. Check Oil Level and Test

• Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
• Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, allowing oil to circulate.
• Check for leaks around the new oil filter.
• Turn off the engine and check the oil level with the dipstick; add oil if necessary.
