Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool before starting work.
2. Replace Spark Plug
  1. Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  2. Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to remove the spark plug from cylinder 1.
  3. Inspect the old spark plug for wear or carbon buildup.
  4. Install a new spark plug, ensuring it is gapped correctly to manufacturer specifications (typically around 0.028-0.031 inches).
  5. Torque the spark plug to the manufacturer's specified value (usually around 13 lb-ft).
3. Replace Ignition Coil
  1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
  2. Remove the ignition coil retaining bolt using a socket.
  3. Pull the ignition coil out of the cylinder head.
  4. Install the new ignition coil and secure it with the retaining bolt.
  5. Reconnect the ignition coil connector.
4. Test Fuel Injector
  1. Disconnect the fuel injector connector.
  2. Attach a noid light to the injector harness to check for pulsing while cranking the engine.
  3. If no signal is present, further diagnose the wiring or ECM.
  4. If the injector is faulty, replace it by removing the fuel rail if necessary.
5. Reassemble and Reconnect
  • Reinstall any engine covers removed during the process.
  • Reconnect the battery.
