Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Inspect and Repair Vacuum Leaks
  • Tools Required: Vacuum gauge, hose clamp pliers
  • Visually inspect all vacuum lines for cracks or disconnections.
  • Use a vacuum gauge to check for proper vacuum levels.
  • Replace any damaged hoses or gaskets.
3. Clean or Replace the MAF Sensor
  • Tools Required: MAF sensor cleaner, Torx screwdriver
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the MAF sensor.
  • Remove the screws and take out the MAF sensor.
  • Spray the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner and let it dry completely before reinstalling.
  • If damaged, replace the MAF sensor with a new one.
4. Test and Replace Fuel Components
  • Tools Required: Fuel pressure gauge, socket set
  • Connect the fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and turn the ignition to the ON position (without starting the engine).
  • Check the fuel pressure against manufacturer specifications; it should generally be between 55-65 psi for most vehicles.
  • If pressure is low, inspect the fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel injectors. Replace any faulty components as needed.
5. Clear Codes and Reassemble
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Use the OBD-II scanner to clear the P0174 code.
  • Start the engine and check for any new codes.
