Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Oil catch pan
    • Funnel
    • Clean rag
  • Parts Required:
    • New oil filter
    • Engine oil (check owner’s manual for the correct type and quantity)
  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
  2. Place the oil catch pan under the oil filter location.
2. Drain Engine Oil
  1. Remove the oil drain plug using a socket wrench and allow the oil to drain completely into the catch pan.
  2. Replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer’s specified torque (check owner’s manual for exact value).
3. Remove Old Oil Filter
  1. Use the oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter by turning it counterclockwise.
  2. Wipe the mounting surface on the engine with a clean rag to remove any old oil or debris.
4. Install New Oil Filter
  1. Apply a thin layer of new engine oil to the rubber gasket on the top of the new oil filter.
  2. Screw the new oil filter in place by hand, turning it clockwise until snug. Do not over-tighten.
  3. Follow manufacturer specifications for tightening if required.
5. Fill Engine with New Oil
  1. Open the hood and remove the oil filler cap.
  2. Using a funnel, pour the correct amount of new engine oil into the engine.
  3. Replace the oil filler cap securely.
6. Final Inspection
  1. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, checking for any leaks around the oil filter.
  2. Turn off the engine and check the oil level using the dipstick, adding more oil if necessary.
