Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, ratchet, extension bar, dielectric grease.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely to avoid burns.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Remove any clips or screws securing the engine cover.
  • Gently lift and set aside the engine cover to access the spark plugs.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Locate the ignition coil assemblies on top of each spark plug.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from each ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling it off.
  • Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils with a socket wrench.
  • Carefully pull the ignition coils out of their respective spark plug wells.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to carefully unscrew and remove the old spark plugs from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect the old spark plugs for signs of damage and note their condition.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs to prevent seizing.
  • Hand-tighten the new spark plugs into the cylinder head to avoid cross-threading.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 15-20 lb-ft, check the specific value in the service manual).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Place the ignition coils back into the spark plug wells.
  • Secure each ignition coil with its bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors.
  • Ensure all connections are secure to avoid misfires.
7. Replace Engine Cover
  • Reinstall the engine cover and secure it with clips or screws.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
