Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Ratchet and extensions
    • Multimeter
    • OBD-II scanner
  • Parts Required:
    • New ignition coils (if necessary)
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the engine is cool.
2. Disconnect Battery
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shocks.
  • Use a socket to loosen the terminal clamp and remove it from the battery post.
3. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • If the ignition coils are under an engine cover, remove it by unscrewing the bolts or clips holding it in place.
  • Gently lift the cover off and set it aside.
4. Remove Ignition Coil
  • Locate the ignition coils on the engine.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling it off.
  • Remove the bolt(s) securing the ignition coil using a socket or ratchet.
  • Gently pull the ignition coil out of the spark plug well.
5. Install New Ignition Coil
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the rubber boot of the new ignition coil.
  • Insert the new ignition coil into the spark plug well and press it down until it seats properly.
  • Reinstall the bolt(s) to secure the ignition coil and torque them to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 89 in-lbs but check specific torque specs for your model).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector until you hear a click.
6. Reassemble and Test
  • If applicable, reinstall the engine cover by aligning it properly and securing it with bolts or clips.
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery and tighten the clamp.
  • Start the engine to ensure it runs smoothly and check for any warning lights.
