Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and secured with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems.
2. Check and Replace Transmission Fluid
  • Remove the transmission fluid dipstick and check the fluid level.
  • If low, add the manufacturer-recommended transmission fluid.
  • If the fluid is dirty or burnt, drain the transmission fluid:
    1. Place a drain pan under the transmission pan.
    2. Remove the transmission pan bolts with a socket set.
    3. Carefully lower the pan and allow the fluid to drain completely.
  • Replace the old fluid with new, manufacturer-recommended transmission fluid.
3. Replace Transmission Filter
  • After draining the fluid, remove the old filter:
    1. Unscrew the filter mounting bolts.
    2. Take out the filter and replace it with a new one.
  • Clean the transmission pan and gasket surface before reinstalling.
4. Inspect and Repair Wiring and Sensors
  • Visually inspect the wiring harnesses connected to the TCM and sensors for any signs of damage or corrosion.
  • If the speed sensors are faulty, replace them with new sensors:
    1. Locate the sensors on the transmission.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the retaining screws.
    3. Install the new sensor and reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the transmission pan with a new gasket and torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Reconnect the battery and start the vehicle.
  • Check for leaks and ensure proper fluid levels.
