Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to prevent burns.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid electrical shorts.

Tools Required:

  • Socket set (10mm and 5/8" sockets)
  • Torque wrench
  • Spark plug gap tool
  • Ratchet and extension
  • Pliers
  • Compressed air (optional)
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Use a socket to remove the bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Carefully lift the engine cover off and set it aside.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil.
  • Remove the bolts securing the coils using a socket.
  • Gently pull the ignition coils straight out of the spark plug wells.
4. Remove Spark Plugs
  • Using a spark plug socket and ratchet, carefully loosen and remove each spark plug by turning it counterclockwise.
  • If necessary, use compressed air to blow out any debris from the spark plug wells before removing the plugs.
5. Inspect and Replace Spark Plugs
  • Examine the removed spark plugs for wear patterns, carbon deposits, and electrode condition.
  • If replacement is needed, check the gap on the new spark plugs using a feeler gauge, adjusting as necessary to meet the manufacturer’s specification (typically around 0.043 inches for Honda).
  • Install the new spark plugs by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with the socket until snug, followed by a torque wrench to the specified torque (usually around 13 lb-ft).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Insert the ignition coils back into their respective positions.
  • Secure them with the bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Place the engine cover back onto its mounting points.
  • Secure it with the previously removed bolts.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
