my Honda Accord makes a grinding noise when I brake what could be wrong

• Tools Needed: Socket set, jack, jack stands, lug wrench, brake cleaner, safety goggles, gloves
• Safely park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Raise the Vehicle

• Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels.
• Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
• Remove the front wheels to gain access to the braking components.

3. Inspect Brake Components

• Brake Pads:

  • Remove the caliper bolts using a socket set.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor without disconnecting the brake line.
  • Inspect brake pads for wear; if they are less than 3 mm thick, replace them.
  • Clean the caliper bracket and pads with brake cleaner.

• Brake Rotors:

  • Check for any grooves or scoring on the rotors.
  • If damaged, replace the rotors. If they are within specifications, consider resurfacing them if necessary.
