Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket set, wrench set, jack, jack stands, and possibly a torque wrench.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off.
2. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  1. Locate the power steering reservoir.
  2. Check the fluid level; if low, top off with the recommended fluid type.
  3. If the fluid is dirty or contaminated, drain the system.
    • Locate the return line and disconnect it.
    • Allow old fluid to drain into a container.
  4. Refill with fresh power steering fluid to the proper level.
3. Examine and Replace Damaged CV Joints
  1. Safely lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  2. Remove the wheel on the side making the noise.
  3. Inspect the CV joint boot for tears or leaks.
  4. If damaged, remove the axle nut using a socket and wrench.
  5. Disconnect the CV joint from the hub by removing any retaining clips.
  6. Replace the CV joint or entire axle assembly as necessary.
  7. Reassemble in reverse order and torque the axle nut to manufacturer specifications.
4. Inspect and Repair Steering Components
  1. Visually inspect the steering rack and pinion for any signs of wear or damage.
  2. If damaged, remove the steering rack according to service manual instructions.
  3. Replace with a new or reconditioned steering rack.
  4. Reconnect all necessary linkages and ensure proper alignment.
