Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set with 10mm and 12mm sockets
    • Torque wrench
    • Spark plug socket
    • Feeler gauge
    • Ratchet
    • Extension bar
  • Parts Required:
    • Replacement spark plugs (check specifications)
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Disconnect the battery before starting work to prevent electrical shorts.
    • Allow the engine to cool before beginning the procedure.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Remove any bolts or screws securing the engine cover using the appropriate socket.
  • Gently lift the cover off and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Locate the spark plug wires or ignition coils on the engine.
  • Carefully unplug the ignition coil connectors by pressing the release tab and pulling straight out.
4. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Unscrew the bolts (typically 10mm) holding the ignition coils in place using the socket set.
  • Lift the ignition coils out of their respective spark plug wells.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Using the spark plug socket, carefully unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head. Turn counterclockwise until fully removed.
  • Take care not to drop debris into the cylinder head.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check and adjust the gap on the new spark plugs using a feeler gauge to match manufacturer specifications.
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs (if specified by the manufacturer).
  • Install the new spark plugs by hand, turning clockwise until snug, then use a torque wrench to tighten them to the manufacturer’s specified torque (usually around 13 lb-ft or as specified).
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Place ignition coils back into their respective positions.
  • Secure them with the bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors.
8. Replace Engine Cover
  • Position the engine cover back in place and secure it with bolts or screws.
