Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Safely lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repairs.
2. Identify and Replace Leaking Components
  • Power Steering Hoses:

    1. Trace the high-pressure and return hoses from the power steering pump to the steering rack.
    2. Use a socket set to remove the clamps and disconnect the hoses.
    3. Replace any damaged or worn hoses with OEM or high-quality aftermarket parts.
    4. Reconnect the hoses and secure them with proper torque.
  • Power Steering Pump:

    1. If the pump is leaking, remove the drive belt by loosening the tensioner.
    2. Unbolt the power steering pump from its mounting bracket using a socket set.
    3. Disconnect the fluid lines from the pump.
    4. Install the new pump in reverse order and ensure all connections are tight.
  • Steering Rack:

    1. If the steering rack is leaking, unbolt it from the subframe and disconnect the tie rods.
    2. Remove the rack from the vehicle.
    3. Install the new rack and reconnect tie rods and any necessary components.
3. Refill and Bleed the System
  1. Fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended power steering fluid.
  2. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock to bleed air from the system.
  3. Check fluid levels again and top off if necessary.
