Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Check and Top Off Transmission Fluid
  • Locate the transmission dipstick; remove and wipe clean.
  • Insert the dipstick back into the tube, then remove it again to check the fluid level.
  • If low, add the recommended transmission fluid (Honda ATF DW-1) until it reaches the proper level.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pedal Switch (if necessary)
  • Remove the lower dash cover to access the brake pedal assembly.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake pedal switch.
  • Remove the switch from its mounting position.
  • Install the new brake pedal switch and reconnect the electrical connector.
4. Repair or Replace Shift Assembly (if damaged)
  • Remove the center console to access the gear shift assembly.
  • Disconnect any electrical connectors and cables linked to the assembly.
  • Inspect for any broken components and replace as necessary.
  • Reassemble the center console once repairs are complete.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the vehicle and attempt to shift through the gears while checking for proper engagement.
