Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Inspect and Replace CV Joints
  1. Lift the Vehicle
    • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  2. Remove Wheel
    • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheel.
  3. Inspect CV Joints
    • Visually inspect the CV joints for damage or torn boots.
    • If damaged, proceed to replace the CV joint.
  4. Remove CV Axle
    • Unbolt the CV axle from the transmission and the hub assembly, using appropriate sockets and wrenches.
  5. Install New CV Joint
    • Insert the new CV joint and secure it with bolts to the transmission and hub assembly, using the specified torque values (usually around 30-40 ft-lbs).
3. Inspect and Replace Sway Bar Links
  1. Locate Sway Bar Links
    • Identify the sway bar and its links connected to the lower control arms.
  2. Remove Old Sway Bar Links
    • Use a wrench to remove the bolts securing the sway bar links to the sway bar and control arms.
  3. Install New Sway Bar Links
    • Position the new sway bar links and secure them with bolts. Tighten to the manufacturer's specifications.
4. Check and Replace Wheel Bearings (if necessary)
  1. Check Wheel Bearing Play
    • Grab the wheel at 12 and 6 o'clock positions and check for excessive movement.
  2. Remove Wheel Hub Assembly
    • If play is detected, remove the hub assembly by unbolting it from the steering knuckle.
  3. Replace Wheel Bearing
    • Press out the old bearing and press in the new one using a bearing press.
  4. Reassemble
    • Reattach the hub assembly, tighten bolts to manufacturer specifications, and reinstall the wheel.
