my Honda Civic 11th Generation (2022-Present) won’t unlock with the key fob

Solution

1. Preparation

• Gather tools: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, flathead screwdriver, replacement battery for the key fob, and a soft cloth.
• Ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe area.

2. Replace Key Fob Battery

1. Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry open the key fob casing.
2. Remove the old battery and note the battery type (typically CR2032).
3. Insert a new battery, ensuring the positive (+) side is facing up.
4. Snap the key fob casing back together securely.

3. Reprogram Key Fob (if necessary)

1. Sit inside the vehicle and close all doors.
2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the “ON” position (do not start the engine).
3. Press and hold the “Unlock” button on the key fob for approximately 10 seconds.
4. Turn the ignition to the “OFF” position and remove the key.
