Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Wrench or socket set
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Oil drain pan
    • Funnel
    • Rags or paper towels
    • Jack and jack stands (if necessary)
  • Parts Required:
    • New engine oil (5W-20 or as specified in the manual)
    • New oil filter
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Allow the engine to cool before beginning work.
    • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secured with jack stands if elevated.
2. Drain Old Oil
  • Locate the oil drain plug under the vehicle.
  • Using the wrench, loosen and remove the drain plug.
  • Position the oil drain pan beneath the plug to catch the old oil.
  • Allow the oil to completely drain into the pan for several minutes.
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Locate the oil filter; it is usually accessible from the top or bottom of the engine.
  • Use the oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter.
  • Before installing the new filter, apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket on the new filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, tightening it according to the manufacturer's specifications (usually until snug).
4. Add New Oil
  • Replace the oil drain plug and tighten securely.
  • Open the hood and remove the oil filler cap.
  • Using the funnel, pour in the new engine oil as per the specified capacity in the owner’s manual.
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
5. Check Oil Level
  • Start the engine and allow it to run for a minute.
  • Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes.
  • Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it to check the oil level.
  • If necessary, add more oil until the correct level is reached.
