Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.

Tools Required:

  • Flathead screwdriver
  • 10mm socket and ratchet
  • Throttle body cleaner
  • Soft cloth or paper towels
  • Safety gloves and goggles
2. Remove the Air Intake Duct
  • Loosen the hose clamps securing the air intake duct to the throttle body and air filter box using a flathead screwdriver or socket.
  • Carefully detach the duct from both ends and set it aside.
3. Remove the Throttle Body
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle body by pressing the tab and pulling it away.
  • Remove the bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold using a 10mm socket.
  • Carefully lift the throttle body off the manifold, avoiding damaging the gasket.
4. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner directly onto the throttle plate and inside the throttle body.
  • Use a soft cloth or paper towel to wipe away carbon deposits. Be gentle to avoid scratching the surface.
  • Open the throttle plate manually to clean behind it and ensure all areas are free of buildup.
5. Reassemble the Components
  • Place a new gasket on the intake manifold if needed (recommended).
  • Position the throttle body back onto the manifold and secure it with the bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 15-20 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector to the throttle body.
  • Reattach the air intake duct and secure it with the hose clamps.
6. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to ensure proper operation.
