Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, torque wrench, socket set, brake cleaner, and safety goggles.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and engage the parking brake before beginning work.
2. Lift Vehicle
  1. Using the lug wrench, loosen the lug nuts on the wheel where brake pads are being inspected.
  2. Raise the vehicle with a jack and securely place jack stands under the vehicle.
  3. Remove the wheel to access the brake assembly.
3. Inspect Brake Pads
  1. Visually inspect the brake pads for thickness. If they are less than 3mm, they need to be replaced.
  2. Check the surface for any cracks or uneven wear.
4. Replace Brake Pads (if necessary)
  1. Remove Caliper:
    • Remove the caliper bolts using the socket set.
    • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it using a bungee cord or rope (do not let it dangle).
  2. Remove Old Pads:
    • Slide the old brake pads out of the caliper bracket.
  3. Install New Pads:
    • Insert the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
  4. Reassemble Caliper:
    • Compress the caliper piston using a C-clamp or brake caliper tool.
    • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and secure with the caliper bolts, tightening to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
5. Reassemble Vehicle
  1. Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  2. Lower the vehicle to the ground and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
