Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to ensure safety during repairs.
2. Inspect and Replace the Wheel Speed Sensor
  1. Remove the wheel:

    • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
    • Remove the wheel lug nuts using a socket set and take off the wheel.
  2. Access the wheel speed sensor:

    • Locate the left front wheel speed sensor near the brake rotor.
    • Clean the area around the sensor to prevent debris from entering.
  3. Disconnect the sensor:

    • Unplug the electrical connector from the wheel speed sensor.
    • Remove the mounting bolt securing the sensor using a socket.
  4. Install the new sensor:

    • Install the new wheel speed sensor in reverse order of removal.
    • Secure the sensor with the mounting bolt and reconnect the electrical connector.
3. Reassemble and Test
  1. Reinstall the wheel:

    • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
    • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  2. Reconnect the battery:

    • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
  3. Clear the error codes:

    • Use the OBD-II scanner to clear the C0031 code from the system.
  4. Test drive the vehicle:

    • Take the vehicle for a test drive to ensure that the ABS and traction control lights are off and the speedometer functions correctly.
