Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the ignition is off.
  • Disconnect the battery (negative terminal).
2. Inspect and Repair Brake Lines
  • Tools Required: Wrench set, brake line flare tool
  • Inspect brake lines for corrosion or leaks and replace any damaged lines.
  • If leaks are found:
    1. Remove the damaged section of the brake line using the wrench.
    2. Cut a new piece of brake line to the required length.
    3. Use the brake line flare tool to create flares on both ends of the new line.
    4. Install the new line and secure it with appropriate fittings.
3. Replace or Refill Brake Fluid
  • Tools Required: Brake fluid, funnel, brake bleeder kit
  • If the brake fluid is low or contaminated:
    1. Remove the master cylinder cap and check the fluid condition.
    2. If necessary, drain the old fluid using a brake bleeder kit.
    3. Refill the master cylinder with new, manufacturer-recommended brake fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4 as specified).
4. Bleed the Brake System
  • Tools Required: Brake bleeder kit, assistant (if needed)
  • To remove air from the brake system:
    1. Begin at the furthest wheel from the master cylinder (usually the rear passenger side).
    2. Attach the brake bleeder kit to the brake bleeder valve.
    3. Open the valve and have an assistant press the brake pedal until fluid flows without bubbles.
    4. Close the valve and repeat for each wheel in the following order: rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, and front driver.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the master cylinder cap and reconnect the battery.
  • Perform a brake test to ensure the pedal feels firm and responsive.
