Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, anti-seize compound, dielectric grease.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the screws or bolts securing the engine cover.
    2. Use the socket set to remove these fasteners.
    3. Gently lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Identify the ignition coils on top of the spark plugs.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil by pressing the tab and pulling.
    3. Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using the socket set.
    4. Carefully pull the ignition coils out to expose the spark plugs.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Use the spark plug socket and extension bar to loosen and remove each spark plug by turning counterclockwise.
    2. Inspect the removed spark plugs for wear or damage.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs to prevent seizing.
    2. Check the spark plug gap and adjust if necessary.
    3. Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
    4. Tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 13-15 lb-ft).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils and Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Reinsert the ignition coils into their respective positions and secure with bolts.
    2. Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
    3. Place the engine cover back on and secure with screws or bolts removed earlier.
    4. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
