Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools: OBD-II scanner, tire pressure gauge, and a TPMS reset tool (if required).
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Confirm that all tires are inflated to the recommended pressure levels.
2. Replace Faulty TPMS Sensors
  1. Remove the Wheel:

    • Loosen the lug nuts while the vehicle is on the ground.
    • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
    • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
  2. Access the TPMS Sensor:

    • Locate the TPMS sensor on the inner side of the tire.
    • Use a tire machine or manual tools to break the bead of the tire and remove it from the wheel rim.
  3. Inspect and Replace Sensor:

    • Remove the old TPMS sensor from the valve stem.
    • Install the new TPMS sensor and ensure it is securely attached.
    • Reinstall the tire onto the wheel and inflate to the recommended pressure.
  4. Reinstall the Wheel:

    • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
    • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 80-100 ft-lbs for the Civic).
3. Reset the TPMS System
  1. Using the Reset Button:

    • Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine).
    • Press and hold the TPMS reset button located under the steering column until the TPMS light blinks twice, then release it.
    • Start the engine and allow the vehicle to drive for a few minutes.
  2. Using the OBD-II Scanner:

    • Connect the OBD-II scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic port.
    • Follow the prompts to navigate to the TPMS reset option and execute it.
