Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:

    • Screwdriver set
    • Ratchet and socket set
    • Throttle body cleaner
    • Clean microfiber cloths
    • Safety goggles and gloves
  • Ensure the engine is cool and park the vehicle on a level surface.

2. Disconnect Battery
  1. Open the hood and locate the negative battery terminal.
  2. Use a wrench to disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
3. Remove Air Intake Hose
  1. Loosen the hose clamps securing the air intake hose to the throttle body.
  2. Carefully detach the hose from the throttle body and set it aside.
4. Access the Throttle Body
  1. Locate the throttle body attached to the intake manifold.
  2. Disconnect any electrical connectors on the throttle body by pressing the release tab and pulling gently.
  3. Remove any mounting bolts using the ratchet and socket set (usually 2-4 bolts). Keep them in a safe place.
5. Clean the Throttle Body
  1. Spray throttle body cleaner onto a clean microfiber cloth and wipe the inside surfaces of the throttle body.
  2. For tough deposits, spray the cleaner directly onto the throttle body and let it sit for a minute before wiping.
  3. Ensure the throttle plate is cleaned thoroughly, allowing it to move freely without obstruction.
6. Reassemble Components
  1. Reinstall the throttle body by reversing the removal steps, securing it with the mounting bolts to the specified torque (typically between 10-15 ft-lbs).
  2. Reconnect the electrical connectors to the throttle body.
  3. Reattach the air intake hose and secure it with the hose clamps.
7. Reconnect Battery
  1. Reconnect the negative battery cable and tighten it securely.
