Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface. Use jack stands to secure the vehicle after lifting.
2. Remove Wheels
  1. Loosen the lug nuts on the front or rear wheels using the lug wrench.
  2. Lift the vehicle using the jack and secure it with jack stands.
  3. Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheels to access the struts.
3. Remove Old Struts
  1. Locate and remove the bolts securing the bottom of the strut to the steering knuckle using the socket set.
  2. Remove the upper strut mounting bolts found under the hood or in the trunk, depending on the model. Ensure to support the strut before removing.
  3. Carefully take out the strut assembly from the vehicle.
4. Install New Struts
  1. If necessary, use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the spring on the old strut.
  2. Transfer the spring and any other components (such as the strut mount) to the new strut.
  3. Install the new strut assembly into the vehicle and secure it at the top with the upper mounting bolts.
  4. Reattach the bottom of the strut to the steering knuckle using the bolts. Torque these bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  1. Reinstall the wheels and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  2. Lower the vehicle back to the ground and then torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
  3. Repeat the process for the opposite side if necessary.
