my Honda Civic 10th Generation (2016-2021) has low oil pressure warning

Solution

1. Preparation

• Gather tools and materials: OBD-II scanner, mechanical oil pressure gauge, socket set, torque wrench, oil filter wrench, new oil filter, and engine oil.
• Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.

2. Check and Top Up Engine Oil

• Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it to check the oil level.
• If the oil level is low, add the appropriate type and amount of engine oil as specified in the owner's manual.
• Check for any signs of contamination (milky appearance) in the oil.

3. Inspect and Replace Oil Filter

• Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
• Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
• Install the new oil filter and tighten it according to the manufacturer's specifications.

4. Test Oil Pressure

• Remove the oil pressure sender unit and install the mechanical oil pressure gauge.
• Start the engine and observe the oil pressure reading; it should fall within the manufacturer's specified range.
• If the pressure is low, proceed to inspect the oil pump.

5. Inspect Oil Pump

• If necessary, remove the oil pump for inspection. This may require draining the oil and removing the oil pan.
• Check for signs of wear or damage on the pump and replace if necessary.

6. Reassemble and Test
