Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on where the noise is originating.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure safety during work.
3. Inspect and Replace Components

A. Shock Absorbers/Struts

  • Remove the wheel to gain access to the suspension.
  • Unbolt the top and bottom mounting points of the shock absorber/strut.
  • Replace with new shock absorbers/struts if leaks or damage are found.
  • Torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.

B. Sway Bar Links and Bushings

  • Disconnect the sway bar links from the sway bar and control arm.
  • Inspect bushings for wear; replace if cracked or damaged.
  • Install new sway bar links and torque to specifications.

C. Control Arms

  • If play is detected, unbolt the control arm from the vehicle.
  • Replace any worn bushings or the entire control arm if necessary.
  • Reinstall and torque bolts to proper specifications.
4. Reassemble
  • Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Torque the wheel nuts to the specified torque value.
