Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts before starting the repair.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns; disconnect the battery.
2. Replace Temperature Sensor
  1. Locate the temperature sensor, typically found near the thermostat housing.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the temperature sensor.
  3. Remove the sensor using a wrench or socket.
  4. Install the new temperature sensor, ensuring it is seated properly.
  5. Reconnect the electrical connector.
3. Replace Thermostat (if faulty)
  1. Drain the coolant from the radiator into a suitable container.
  2. Remove the hoses connected to the thermostat housing.
  3. Unbolt the thermostat housing and remove the old thermostat.
  4. Clean the mating surfaces of the housing and engine.
  5. Install the new thermostat with the correct orientation, if marked.
  6. Reassemble the thermostat housing and reconnect hoses.
4. Refill Coolant
  1. Fill the cooling system with the appropriate type and mixture of coolant.
  2. Start the engine and let it reach operating temperature while checking for leaks.
  3. Top off coolant as necessary while monitoring the temperature gauge.
