Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and safety equipment.
  • Tools Required:
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Strut spring compressor (if replacing struts)
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Always ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface before lifting.
    • Use jack stands to support the vehicle after lifting.
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel to access the strut.
3. Inspect the Strut Assembly
  • Check for any visible signs of damage such as rust, cracks, or oil leakage.
  • If the strut appears damaged, proceed to replace it.
4. Remove the Strut
  • Disconnect any brake lines, sway bar links, or other components attached to the strut.
  • Remove the top mounting bolts of the strut from the engine bay.
  • Use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the spring if replacing the strut assembly.
  • Remove the strut from the vehicle.
5. Install New Strut
  • If necessary, transfer components from the old strut to the new one (e.g., mounts, springs).
  • Install the new strut into the vehicle.
  • Reattach the top mounting bolts and tighten to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reconnect any brake lines or sway bar links.
6. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and then torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
  • Perform a final check to ensure everything is secure.
