Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove Fuel Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, fuel line disconnect tool, screwdriver, torque wrench
  • Locate the fuel pump access panel under the rear seat or in the trunk area.
  • Remove the access panel screws and carefully lift the panel to expose the fuel pump assembly.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and fuel lines from the fuel pump assembly using the fuel line disconnect tool.
  • Unscrew the retaining ring or screws holding the fuel pump in place and carefully remove the pump assembly from the fuel tank.
3. Inspect and Replace Fuel Pump
  • Visually inspect the old fuel pump for damage or wear.
  • Compare the old pump with the new pump to ensure compatibility.
  • If the old pump is faulty, install the new fuel pump into the assembly, ensuring it is seated correctly.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector securely.
4. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the fuel pump assembly into the fuel tank and secure it with the retaining ring or screws.
  • Replace the access panel and secure it with screws.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Test the system by turning the ignition to the "ON" position to prime the fuel system and check for leaks around the fuel lines and connection.
