Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting work.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Tools Required: Socket set
  • Remove any bolts securing the engine cover using a socket wrench.
  • Gently lift the engine cover off and set it aside.
3. Disconnect Ignition Coils
  • Tools Required: Pliers (if applicable)
  • Carefully disconnect the electrical connector from each ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling the connector straight off.
  • If there are retaining clips, remove them using pliers or your fingers.
4. Remove Old Ignition Coils
  • Tools Required: Socket set
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts securing each ignition coil to the cylinder head.
  • Gently pull each ignition coil out of the spark plug well. If they are stuck, wiggle them slightly to free them.
5. Install New Ignition Coils
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of each new ignition coil boot (optional but recommended).
  • Insert each new ignition coil into its respective spark plug well and secure it with the bolts.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 7-10 ft-lbs).
6. Reconnect Electrical Connectors
  • Reattach each electrical connector to the new ignition coils until you hear a click indicating it is securely connected.
  • Ensure that all connectors are firmly attached and free from any dirt or debris.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with the bolts removed earlier.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten it securely.
