Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
2. Inspect and Refill Oil
  • Check Oil Level
    • Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean.
    • Reinsert the dipstick and remove it again to check the oil level.
    • If low, add the correct type of oil (5W-20 recommended for Honda Civic).
  • Tools Required: Oil funnel, correct engine oil.
3. Inspect and Replace Oil Filter (if necessary)
  • Remove Oil Filter
    • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the oil filter.
    • Ensure the old filter’s rubber O-ring is removed with it.
  • Install New Oil Filter
    • Lubricate the rubber O-ring of the new oil filter with a little new oil.
    • Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten it according to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically 3/4 to 1 full turn after the O-ring makes contact).
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench.
4. Check and Replace Oil Pressure Sending Unit
  • Locate the Sending Unit
    • Find the oil pressure sending unit, usually located near the oil filter.
  • Remove and Replace Unit
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
    • Use a socket to unscrew the old sending unit.
    • Install the new sending unit and reconnect the electrical connector.
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench.
5. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes, checking for leaks around the oil filter and sending unit.
