Solution

1. Preparation

• Gather tools and replacement parts.
• Park the vehicle on a level surface and ensure the engine is cool.
• Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

2. Replace Thermostat

• Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, gasket scraper
• Remove the engine cover, if applicable.
• Locate the thermostat housing and remove the bolts using the socket set.
• Take out the old thermostat and clean the mating surfaces.
• Install the new thermostat ensuring it is oriented correctly.
• Reattach the thermostat housing and torque to manufacturer specifications.

3. Repair or Replace Water Pump

• Tools Required: Socket set, coolant catch pan, gasket scraper
• Drain the engine coolant into the catch pan.
• Remove the serpentine belt from the water pump.
• Unbolt the water pump from the engine and disconnect any hoses attached.
