Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.

Tools Required:

  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Strut spring compressor
  • Screwdrivers
  • Jack and jack stands
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel where the strut is leaking.
  • Remove the wheel to access the strut assembly.
3. Disconnect the Strut
  • Remove any brake line brackets attached to the strut.
  • Unbolt the lower strut mount from the steering knuckle using the socket set.
  • Remove the upper strut mounting nuts under the hood (may require removing other components for access).
4. Replace the Strut
  • Use the strut spring compressor to compress the coil spring on the old strut.
  • Carefully remove the top mount and spring from the old strut.
  • Transfer the spring and top mount to the new strut.
  • Reinstall the spring and top mount on the new strut ensuring proper alignment.
5. Install the New Strut
  • Place the new strut into position in the vehicle.
  • Secure the upper mount with nuts and tighten to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Attach the lower strut mount to the steering knuckle and tighten.
6. Reassemble
  • Reattach any brake lines and brackets removed earlier.
  • Reinstall the wheel and tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
