Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: small screwdriver set, multimeter, and cleaning cloth.
  • Ensure the vehicle is turned off and in a safe location.
2. Inspect Battery Installation
  • Use a small screwdriver to open the key fob casing.
  • Remove the old battery and install the new one, ensuring the positive (+) side is facing the correct direction.
  • Reassemble the key fob, ensuring it clicks back into place securely.
3. Clean Battery Contacts
  • If corrosion is present, gently clean the battery contacts using a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reassembling the key fob.
4. Test New Battery
  • Use a multimeter to measure the voltage of the new battery. It should read approximately 3 volts for most key fob batteries.
  • If the voltage is low, replace the battery again with a known good one.
5. Reprogram Key Fob
  • Sit in the driver's seat with all doors closed and unlocked.
  • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position (do not start the engine) and back to "OFF" five times within 10 seconds.
  • Leave the key in the "ON" position on the fifth time; the doors should lock and unlock to indicate programming mode.
  • Press the "Lock" button on the key fob to register it with the vehicle.
  • Turn the ignition to "OFF" and test the key fob.
