Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, ratchet, extension bar, dielectric grease, multimeter
  • Gather replacement ignition coils.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shock.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Use the socket set to remove any bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Carefully lift the engine cover off and set it aside.
3. Remove Ignition Coil
  1. Locate the ignition coils on the engine.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector on the ignition coil by pressing the tab and pulling it away.
  3. Remove the retaining bolt(s) securing the ignition coil using the socket set.
  4. Gently pull the ignition coil out of the spark plug well. If necessary, twist it slightly to loosen.
4. Install New Ignition Coil
  1. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the rubber boot of the new ignition coil to ensure a good seal.
  2. Insert the new ignition coil into the spark plug well, pushing it down until it is fully seated.
  3. Reinstall the retaining bolt(s) and tighten them to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 7-10 ft-lbs).
  4. Reconnect the electrical connector to the ignition coil until it clicks into place.
5. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back on and secure it with the previously removed bolts.
6. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery cable and ensure it is securely fastened.
