1. Preparation

2. Replace Thermostat

• Drain the coolant: Place a drain pan under the radiator and open the petcock to drain the coolant.
• Remove the thermostat housing: Use a socket set to remove the bolts securing the thermostat housing. Carefully detach the housing.
• Replace the thermostat: Remove the old thermostat, clean the mating surfaces, and install the new thermostat ensuring the correct orientation.
• Reattach the thermostat housing: Torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 15-20 lb-ft).

3. Repair or Replace Water Pump

• Inspect the water pump: If leaks or abnormal noises are present, remove the serpentine belt using a belt tensioner tool.
• Remove the water pump: Detach any hoses connected to the pump and remove the mounting bolts. Clean the mounting surface on the engine.
