Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrenches, OBD-II scanner, fuel pressure gauge, rags, safety glasses, gloves.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Access the Fuel Filter
  • Step 1: Locate the fuel filter. On the 2017-2022 Honda CR-V, the fuel filter is integrated with the fuel pump and located in the fuel tank. Access may require removing the rear seat or accessing the fuel tank from under the vehicle.
  • Step 2: If necessary, remove the rear seat cushion to access the fuel pump access panel.
3. Remove the Fuel Filter
  • Step 1: Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter assembly. Use a fuel line disconnect tool if necessary.
  • Step 2: Unbolt the fuel pump assembly from its mounting bracket using a socket wrench.
  • Step 3: Carefully lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank. Be cautious of any residual fuel.
4. Replace the Fuel Filter
  • Step 1: Replace the old fuel filter with a new one. Ensure that the new filter is oriented correctly.
  • Step 2: Reinstall the fuel pump assembly back into the tank.
  • Step 3: Reconnect the fuel lines, ensuring they are securely fastened and check for proper sealing.
5. Finalize the Installation
  • Step 1: Reinstall the access panel or rear seat cushion as necessary.
  • Step 2: Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Step 3: Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (without starting the engine) to prime the fuel system. Check for leaks around the fuel filter and connections.
