Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather the necessary tools:
    • Jack
    • Lug wrench
    • Spare tire
    • Wheel chocks
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and activate the parking brake.
2. Loosen Lug Nuts
  • Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire slightly (turn counter-clockwise) without removing them completely.
  • It’s best to do this while the vehicle is still on the ground to prevent the wheel from spinning.
3. Jack Up the Vehicle
  • Position the jack under the vehicle's designated jacking point (refer to the owner’s manual for location).
  • Pump the jack handle until the tire is off the ground. Ensure the vehicle is stable before proceeding.
4. Remove the Flat Tire
  • Fully remove the loosened lug nuts and place them in a safe location.
  • Carefully pull the flat tire straight off the wheel hub and set it aside.
5. Install the Spare Tire
  • Align the spare tire with the wheel hub and push it onto the hub.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts onto the wheel studs to hold the spare tire in place.
6. Lower the Vehicle
  • Slowly lower the vehicle back to the ground using the jack until the spare tire is resting on the ground.
  • Do not completely remove the jack yet.
7. Tighten Lug Nuts
  • Use the lug wrench to tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to ensure even pressure.
  • Ensure that each lug nut is securely tightened to the manufacturer’s torque specification (typically 80-100 ft-lbs for most vehicles).
8. Store Equipment
  • Place the flat tire, jack, and lug wrench back in the vehicle.
  • Check the pressure of the spare tire and ensure it is at the recommended PSI.
