Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Strut spring compressor
    • Screwdriver set
    • Pliers
  • Instructions:
    • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
    • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels before lifting the vehicle.
    • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Instructions:
    • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
    • Set the wheel aside in a safe location.
3. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Instructions:
    • Locate the upper strut mount (usually found under the hood or in the wheel well).
    • Remove the bolts securing the upper strut mount using the socket set.
    • Disconnect any brake line brackets or ABS sensor wires attached to the strut (if applicable).
    • At the bottom of the strut, remove the bolts securing the strut to the lower control arm.
    • Carefully pull the strut assembly out from the vehicle.
4. Replace the Strut Assembly
  • Instructions:
    • Use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the coil spring on the strut assembly.
    • Remove the top nut securing the strut mount to the strut.
    • Replace the old strut with the new one, ensuring proper alignment of the strut mount.
    • Reinstall the top nut and torque it to the manufacturer's specifications.
    • Carefully decompress the spring once the strut is secured.
5. Reinstall the Strut Assembly
  • Instructions:
    • Position the strut assembly back into the vehicle.
    • Secure the bottom of the strut to the lower control arm with the bolts and torque them to specifications.
    • Reattach any brake line brackets or ABS sensor wires.
    • Reinstall the upper strut mount bolts and tighten them securely.
6. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Instructions:
    • Place the wheel back on the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
    • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
